Neilane Mayhew, LLB

I have extensive public sector leadership experience, including six years as a Deputy Minister with the B.C. government.

I have led organizations through significant transformations, including establishing a new Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions from the ground up.

I have delivered critical programs and responded to urgent, complex situations, including guiding tourism, sports and arts organizations through the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic to recovery and renewal.

I have built high-performing teams, mentored and coached senior executives, and provided strategic advice to help them navigate leadership challenges.

My legal background (University of Victoria, LLB) combined with progressive leadership roles has given me deep insight into how government systems work and how to navigate complex regulatory environments.

I've worked collaboratively with ministers, board chairs, CEOs, and stakeholders across for-profit, non-profit, and Indigenous organizations, always focusing on transparent communication and practical solutions.

I leverage my experience to help clients set their strategic direction, work through challenging policy questions, navigate complex regulatory regimes, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders. The common thread is always the same: listen carefully, provide clear guidance, and focus on results that make a difference.

When I'm not working, you'll find me pursuing my passion for powerlifting. I've competed at provincial, national, and international levels, including representing Team Canada at the 2023 World Masters Powerlifting Championships in Mongolia. Powerlifting keeps me grounded and reminds me that anything is possible with the right preparation, support and persistence.
